The Horizon Europe VALPRO Path project, led by Teagasc, is hosting a webinar on 26 November 2025, 12:00 – 13:00 CET, titled “VALPRO Path: Plant-Based Transition Pathways in Europe: Planning for the Future,” to explore strategies for advancing sustainable plant protein production across Europe.
As Europe shifts toward resilient, sustainable, and economically viable plant-based protein systems, transition pathways are increasingly essential for guiding stakeholders through this transformation. By examining future scenarios, value chain interactions, and policy impacts, the webinar aims to equip participants with the insights needed to support environmentally and socially responsible strategies.
Webinar Highlights
The webinar will feature insights from partners within the plant-protein and sustainability landscape, highlighting strategic foresight, value-chain mapping, and scenario development related to Europe’s transition to plant-based proteins:
- Scenario Planning for Transition Pathways for Plant Protein – Amy O’Leary (Teagasc) will share findings from VALPRO Path research, consortium workshops, and integrated transition pathway analyses.
- Mapping Plant-Based Protein Value Chains for Transition Pathways – Amanda Sithole (UCC) will explore the role of plant-based systems and highlight emerging opportunities and challenges in value-chain development.
Following the presentations, a Discussion Corner, moderated by Dušan Čenejac Šimpraga (Foodscale Hub), will bring together Amy O’Leary and Amanda Sithole to discuss the factors shaping Europe’s protein transition.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Dr Richard Lynch, VALPRO Path’s project manager, with closing statements from Dušan Čenejac Šimpraga summarising key insights and outlining next steps for collaborative initiatives across the plant-protein sector.
