Professor Maeve Henchion
Principal Research Officer at Teagasc
Professor Maeve Henchion (MAgrSc, PhD) is a Principal Research Officer at Teagasc, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority of Ireland and Adjunct Professor in the School of Agriculture & Food Science, University College Dublin. Maeve previously served as head of the Dept. of Agri-Food Business and Spatial Analysis in Teagasc, which included budget responsibility of €1.5m/yr and a team of up to 40 researchers, post-docs and PhD students. Other previous projects involved the coordination of the €2m H2020 funded BovINE project which aimed to tackle urgent sustainability challenges faced by the 255,000 beef producing farms in the EU bovine meat sector. She serves on the executive of BiOrbic, Ireland’s bioeconomy research centre) and advises agricultural departments in Ireland and Northern Ireland. She is a strategic thinker, with a history of shaping policy and inspiring change with agriculture, food and the bioeconomy at national and EU level.
