The Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA) of the Spanish National Research Council, created in 1966, is a center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Its scientific-technical objective is to carry out research of excellence on the production of sustainable and quality food, taking into account its safety, health impact and consumer acceptance. The Institute’s core research is devoted to Innovation in Foods and Processes; Food Safety and Preservation; Diet, Microbiota and Health and Food Biotechnology.

Role in the project:

The main role of IATA-CSIC in VALPRO Path is to characterize the compositional and nutritional value of the crops and products/residues generated in the project, a key to the whole biomass valorisation process. CSIC specializes in the valorisation of carbohydrate-rich residues left behind in the process of protein extraction. The group will also contribute to dissemination activities.
